About the club
Every great week deserves a great ending.
Stepping Out is a Friday club led by Iulia Ciungan and designed to help learners finish the school week with joy, connection and a sense of belonging.
Through playful challenges, team experiences, creative activities and friendly competition, learners will have space to unwind after a busy week, connect with one another and simply enjoy being together.
The activities themselves are not the goal — they are the vehicle for something more meaningful: building relationships, discovering strengths, practising teamwork, learning how to win and lose with respect, trying again after setbacks, and creating shared memories.
The idea for Stepping Out came after having the opportunity to spend time with some of our older learners outside the usual rhythm of school life. It made me realise how much we can discover about one another when learners have the time and space to play, collaborate and simply be themselves.
My role at school is not a teaching one, and I see Stepping Out as an opportunity to connect with our learners from a different perspective — to listen, notice, encourage, laugh with them and create experiences alongside them. I hope to bring a different energy to Friday afternoons: one rooted in curiosity, patience, kindness and connection.
There is no pressure to be the best at Stepping Out. There is space to play, make mistakes, try again, support one another and be yourself.
Winning lasts a moment. Character lasts a lifetime. Every Friday has a story waiting to be written.
